Leaves have been falling for some time now, and, after a little delay, the picture on this season's Services page now reflects that!
We've already wound down on our regular lawn maintenance services for the 2011 growing season, although if temperatures get warmer and rains come in, there still might be a need for a trim or two... and it's a great time to set up the annual maintenance schedules for next year.
We are currently scheduling snow plowing, snow shoveling, and snow throwing services for the 2011-2012 Winter season. We'll definitely be plowing in Lititz, just off Fruitville Pike, and we're in talks for some driveways and lots in Strasburg and Marietta. If you're in any of those areas, anywhere between them and our home base here in Mount Joy, we'd love to schedule your driveway in to our routes!
Autumn is the best time to get seed down ~ whether it's new lawn or a native meadow. Earlier this week, we travelled back to our old neighborhood to hydroseed a new meadow installation. A lot of the wildflowers need to over-winter in the soil, freezing and cracking their outer shell, before they germinate and sprout up into their beautiful, showy selves. Looking forward to see how that grows over the next few years!
This is also a good time to get other plants into the ground. Their roots will take hold and grow over the colder season, and then when Spring comes around, they'll be ready to take off and do their thing... no matter if that thing is to control erosion and hold a bank together, or to soften the foundation of a house, or to hide utilities, or to provide a thorny layer of security, or to provide some food to your family, or to attract, feed, or shelter birds and wildlife... or just to sit there and look pretty.
This time of year is also one for cleanup, a task dreaded by many. With all that fallen leaf matter, it's a great time to have us set up a compost pile or bin and help you fill it up with mulched leaves and other yard waste. Please contact us to schedule a visit, and we'll take a look at how much leaf litter you have, and we can talk to you about the best ways to clean it up... or put it to work for you as a mulch!
